Beaches & recreation
Currarong itself has direct access to 2 beaches – Warrain Beach and Bosom Beach.

Warrain Beach can be accessed by foot through Currarong Creek, across the road from the house. Warrain Beach stretches some 14km in a wide sweep around to Culburra, with no development on the beachfront between the two towns.

A reef at the Currarong end of the beach creates a natural barrier in low to medium tides, creating a giant sandy-bottomed pool that is perfect for exploration by kids.

A 5-minute walk away along the ocean shore is Abraham's Bosom Beach (Bosom Beach) , a beautiful, sheltered beach with bush running down to the sand dunes. Bosom Beach is also the starting point for the walking tracks on Beecroft Headland (see below).

The water off Currarong is generally calm, crystal-clear and aquamarine in colour. Dolphins and rays are commonly seen year round and whales are known to visit the bay during migration season.

As the bay is quite sheltered, it is a perfect place for paddling, sailboarding or boating. The beach, creek and rocks also provide a number of good fishing spots.

Beecroft Headland provides walking access to several more beaches, including Lobster Bay and our favourite - Wilson's Beach (pictured above right) - a tiny, sheltered sandy cove so full of sea life that when you put goggles on it's like swimming in an aquarium.

If you feel like travelling a little further afield, a number of stunning Jervis Bay beaches are accessible from the Lighthouse Road, on the edge of Currarong. Within 5 to 10 minutes by car you can reach Honeymoon Bay, Cabbage Tree or Long Beach.

The combination of beaches within and around Currarong means that you can usually find a safe, sheltered swimming spot, even in windy conditions.

For bushwalking, the Beecroft Headland, accessible from the carpark behind Bosom Beach, offers walks of a range of distances and gradients, with access to Aboriginal artefacts, a shipwreck, some of the highest cliffs in NSW and unusual rock formations.
